Poker Professor Bankroll Challenge
For anyone who is a fan of poker and enjoys playing or watching it, this is an entertaining read. As the description of the book indicates, it is the story of how a billionaire 'banker' named Andy Beal took on a group of the best high stakes poker players in the world (who combined their bankrolls into a group called the 'The Corporation') for the highest stakes ever played. Once the challenge was issued and accepted, for the next 3 years, Andy Beal would play high-stakes poker against these professionals in a series of matches with varying results with limits starting at $10,000-$20,000 and moving up to a daring $100,000-$200,000. If you want to play poker for a living, you need to have a bankroll that’s large enough to take a beating. The amount of buy-ins (BI) you’ll need will vary depending on what variant of poker you play, and whether you play cash or tournaments. The general consensus is that for No-limit Hold’em your bankroll should be at least 25-40 buy-ins.
- 10 Sep 2015 My poker bankroll has been quite stagnant lately.Day #1 - Started Challenge Doug Polk stats challenge with $100, ends the day with $83. Proof he is mortal! The bankroll sits at $997. Make sure you are familiar with the lobby layout and are able to find the Texas Holdem, No Limit, Cash (Ring) Game Tables.
- Obviously, I wasn’t working through the bankroll challenge as I went through the course but that is soon to come. They have another free course on Sit-N-Go tournaments but I am focusing on Full-Ring Cash Games for now.
